if you have any specific questions about the Cameo Girls Collection.

Question: Why is one of my cameo girls missing her certificate?

Answer: She's not missing her certificate. Only the "deluxe" numbered cameo girls come with a certificate. The original $38.00 cameo girls that were not numbered or limited in edition have no certificates. United Design did not put certificates with them. If the cameo girl that you ordered at the website is not called out as a "Deluxe", it will NOT have a certificate.

Question: Can I preorder new releases with you?

Answer: If you are a current customer with us and have good standing on previous payments and orders, YES, we welcome your preorders. This really helps us to order the exact number of girls that we can sell. We sure do appreciate your business and we will provide you with the latest information and news with our mailing list. Current customers also receive priority on limited and special pieces.

If you have cancelled out on a preorder in the past or not made good on a preorder, preorders will not be accepted from you, in fact, our system is set up to reject preorders from customers that have failed to make good on a preorder in the past. No notifications are sent, the system simply kicks out the order into the circular file. Sorry, but we are very busy providing our large database of good customers with outstanding service and customer care, no time to waste.

Question: Can I return them if I don't like them?

Answer: No, you can't! If you are uncertain of what the Cameo Girl Collection is, do not go crazy and order tons of heads on a whim. Try ONE first so you know what this collection is all about. We will not accept back a large order of heads from you. Putting together a Cameo Girl order is very time consuming, expensive and FRAGILE. Let's be smart shoppers! While 99 percent of our customers have been completely happy with the Cameo Girls, there have been exactly 2 customers that bought a large order of heads, then wanted to return them "because they are not like the old head vases". Of course they are not like the old head vases, - REPEAT, this is a brand new collection, not fakes, not replicas. I hope this makes it perfectly clear.

Question: Do they look like the old heads of the 50's & 60's?

Answer: No, definately not! The Cameo Girl collection was not created as a reproduction of the old head vases. This is a NEW collection, unique, different! They are made of bonded porcelin which is a very heavy SOLID resin. They are incredibly detailed and beautiful, the use of resin, not porcelain, makes this possible.

Question: How do the holes at the tops of their heads differ from the antique lady head vases of the 50's and 60's and what do they look like?

Answer: I have taken some close-up pictures of the opening at the top of the head so you can see exactly what you are getting. The "vase opening" at the top of each girls' head is NOT like the original heads of the 50's & 60's, it is much smaller! While they may take a little getting used to if comparing to the old antique heads, keep in mind that United Design created this line choosing to put the emphasis on the sculpture, paint and detail, while still keeping it as a lady head vase. The hole is appx. 3/4" diameter and the bud vase-size glass vial that fits inside is 3" long and is removeable.

The Cameo Girls are NOT reproductions of 50's & 60's head vases, they are original sculptures created in 2000 by a talented design staff to provide a fresh new approach to a timeless treasure.

Question: What are the girls' jewelry made of and are the clothes completely hand painted?

Answer: Regarding the jewelry: there are faux pearl earrings on these girls:

  • LV-003 Eve 1948
  • LV-008 Judith 1809 (also has a plastic crystal bead)
  • LV-009 Judith 1910
  • LV-010 Judith 1948
  • LV-016 Angeline 1952
  • LV-022 Eloise 1944
  • LV-024 Sasha 1848 (faux pearl double-strand necklace too)

The earrings on LV-001 Eve 1926 are cast in clear resin and attached, the earrings on LV-005 Eve 1968, LV-020 Clarissa 1967, and LV-025 Sasha 1975, were sculpted and cast seperately, painted and attached as accessories.

The rhinestones on LV-026 Sasha 1983 are real 7mm clear rhinestones glued on, and there is real glitter in her hair. Her sequins are sculpted and hand painted. The rest of the jewelry on all the girls is sculpted and hand painted to look real. (Aren't the painters GREAT!)

Real tulle veils have been added to LV-004 Eve 1954 and LV-011 Judith 1954. Everything else is hand painted, including the fabrics. And isn't this work pretty amazing - take a look at the ruffle on LV-024 Sasha 1848's dress - that's sculpture! So is the lacework on LV-009 Judith 1910 and the scarf around the neck of LV-019 Clarissa 1955!

One other thing that isn't sculpted: the antennae wire on LV-007 Eve's cell phone; it's real wire painted black.
